Wool Rugs

Wool is the fiber rugs were invented in, and nothing manufactured since has matched it. It springs back from furniture dents, holds dye for decades without going flat, and carries a natural lanolin that makes it resist spills far better than people expect. A good wool rug is bought once.

This is our deepest material collection, and the overwhelming majority of it is hand-knotted — not tufted, not printed, but tied knot by knot. That is why so much of it comes from our own label, and why most of these are traditional Persian and Oriental patterns rather than modern designs. For wool in a modern idiom, our wool and viscose blends are the better starting point.

A note on what you will see here. Many of these rugs are one of a kind — there is exactly one of each, and when it sells it is genuinely gone. That means a good share of this collection shows as sold rather than available. It is worth browsing anyway: if a sold piece is close to what you want, tell us and we can usually find something similar, since we buy from the same workshops every year.
