3x5 Area Rugs

A 3' x 5' rug is the working size for an entry, a landing, a reading corner, or the foot of a bed where a runner would look mean. It is big enough to sit under both feet when you stand on it and small enough to lift and shake out.

This collection leans deliberately toward machine-woven polypropylene and polyester rather than wool. That is the right trade for where 3x5s usually go: these are the rugs that meet wet boots, dropped keys and dog paws, and a dense low-pile synthetic cleans up from all three in a way a fine wool pile does not.

For an entry, leave a few inches of bare floor visible on all sides rather than fitting the rug wall to wall, and use a pad underneath if the floor is hard. Doors need roughly half an inch of clearance, so check the swing before you choose a thicker pile.
