Polyester is the synthetic that gets closest to looking expensive. It takes dye more deeply than polypropylene, so the colors are richer and the shadows in a pattern read properly, and it has a softer hand underfoot — which is why almost every shag and high-pile modern rug is made from it.
Nearly all of this collection is power-loomed, and it skews strongly modern: abstracts, transitional patterns and plush solids rather than Persian medallions. If you want that look in a large size without a hand-knotted price, this is the shelf.
The honest trade against polypropylene is cleanability. Polyester is more prone to holding oil-based stains and will crush underfoot in a high-traffic lane over time. Put it in a bedroom or a living room rather than an entry, and it will look good for years.
