Office Rugs

A home office rug has to do two things nobody thinks about until they have the wrong one: let a desk chair roll, and keep a room quiet enough for calls.

Both point the same way, toward a dense low pile, and that is most of what is here — power-loomed synthetics with a short, tight surface. A chair caster crossing a deep pile drags and eventually chews it; on a low dense weave it rolls. Meanwhile any rug at all cuts the hard-surface echo that makes a home office sound like a home office on a video call.

For size, work from the chair rather than the desk. You want the rug to extend far enough behind you that the chair stays on it at full push-back, which usually means at least a 4x6 under a standard desk and more if you turn to a credenza.
